The Philadelphia Section offers formal lighting courses designed to meet the needs of the design community including architectural, engineering, space planning, landscape planning and construction at two levels:
Fundamentals of Lighting (ED-100):
Basic lighting design and practice equally suited as an introductory course and as a review for those wishing a review of current practice. $285 member/$350 non-member (10% discount when registering 3 or more attendees per organization). The Fundamentals of Lighting is ordinarily offered twice a year, in the fall and in the spring.
Instructional time ten hours; class hours and dates vary. The course offers 2.0 CEU, 20 Health Safety Welfare AIA Learning Units and 20 NCIDQ continuing education units. More information: contact educationchair@iesphl.org. View outline of Fundamentals of Lighting course content.
LC Review Course:
This course lets the experienced designers explore the art and science of lighting design at greater depth than ED-100. It is well suited for those wishing to hone their lighting knowledge and skills. Course covers areas generally of use to those intended to take the NCQLP exam. [The course content is not specifically related to the content of the NCQLP examinations, nor is it specifically sanctioned by the NCQLP. Completion of this course must not be considered as a guarantee of passing the NCQLP examination.]
The cost is $285 member/$335 non-member. This course is ordinarily offered in the fall, scheduled to end before the fall NCQLP exams.
