The Philadelphia Section offers formal lighting courses designed to meet the needs of the design community including architectural, engineering, space planning, landscape planning and construction at two levels:

Fundamentals of Lighting

Basic lighting design and practice equally suited as an introductory course and as a review for those wishing a review of current practice. $290.00 member/$355.00 non-member (10% discount when registering 3 or more attendees per organization). The Fundamentals of Lighting is ordinarily offered twice a year, in the fall and in the spring.

ED150: Intermediate Lighting

This course is designed as the next experience for designers and specifiers in the lighting community who have gained basic knowledge in other educational programs (courses in academia or industry), to further explore the art and science of lighting design at greater depth than ED-100. The course covers areas generally of use to those intended to take the NCQLP exam. [The course content is not specifically related to the content of the NCQLP examinations, nor is it specifically sanctioned by the NCQLP. Completion of this course must not be considered as a guarantee of passing the NCQLP examination.]

A review of ED-200.1, Lighting Mathematics, will be held on the first night of class. There is to be a copy of IESNA TM-1, Lighting Metrics for reference on hand at each class session. Students are strongly encouraged to purchase individual copies of both publications and review them prior to the first night of class. Individual copies can be ordered through the national IESNA website, www.iesna.org at an additional fee.

The cost is $285 member/$335 non-member. This course is ordinarily offered in the fall, scheduled to end before the fall NCQLP exams.

The course offers 24 CEUs/ AIA HSW LUs.
